Hands On – Happy-go-Knitty

When I turned up for the Hands On shoot with Helene of Happy-go-Knitty it was pouring with rain and I hadn’t brought any lights with me. However, Helene was very willing to stand outside (under cover!) with armfuls of yarn so that I could get the light needed to take her portrait.

Helene dyes yarn in various bases (cotton, silk, merino, and on and on – all of them soft and lovely to work with) from her kitchen. Her dyes are bright and vibrant and some of the skeins are splattered with rainbows of colour, done by hand using a paintbrush or syringe full of dye. Needless to say, I came home with a few skeins and I am still looking for the perfect pattern to match them with.
