Treasure Hunting

IMG_9750Molly and I are still hunting for broken, ceramic treasure on the beaches around Auckland. Although Molly has helpfully decided that she hates sand, which makes things a little fraught sometimes.

But we (I) persist as it’s one of my favourite pastimes. What I love most is that at one particular beach I appear to be finding pieces of the same plates and vases and bowls. And all these pieces are being found on different days, even different months. I have no understanding of why these bits are turning up where and when they do, but I absolutely love finding them and spending time washing them and then trying to match and pair them all up.

I have a very heavy bowl full now!

they are pretty! I’ve seen someone making very beautiful jewellery out of such pieces 🙂

  2. How weird finding these at a single beach and over a period of time.
