I have successfully and very proudly taught myself a new skill! Stranded knitting. It was one of my New Years Intentions actually, so that’s a bonus.
Look! Pictures! Two colours! Floats! I know I said this about the first sock I made (that took me three years to complete), but I am saying it again with confidence. I am addicted. A whole new world of knitting and patterns and designs has opened up and I cannot knit fast enough to keep up with my ideas!
I tested the waters with this wonderful pattern from Purl Soho’s blog. I had intended to make a little hat for Molly, but still being on a yarn diet I wanted to use stash, and tried to alter the pattern to use some thicker wool. It worked, but my idea of following the newborn size directions was a bad one!
Too small for my giant noggined girl. So of course I made another one! (Again with stash-pats self on back). I, feeling very proud, handed it to Molly who had been begging for it since I cast on, and she immediately did this:
This was followed by my husband ‘playing’ with it and putting it on his own large head to entertain Molly…and now it’s too big to fit anyone! Way too stretched out! Enormous in fact. But I will hang on to it because it’s a first and maybe she can wear it over a ponytail in about, oh, 10 years time. Sigh, I never even got a decent photo of it. Those two are at risk of being put in the non-knitworthy category with that sort of behaviour!
