Oh Dear.

Somehow (i.e. local yarn shop had a sale) I have added 11 new balls of yarn to my stash.

The white is 7 (eek) balls of 4 ply cotton yarn to make a summer sweater in an Aran lace pattern. The blue variegated and fushia are for a short sleeve feather and fan patterned sweater. Apparently, after about three years of making baby clothes and other tiny things I now have enough motivation and time (hah) to make two sweaters for myself out of fingering weight yarn. Hmm.

Having added all this to my stash made me feel quite guilty! So I have been furiously knitting since these purchases in an attempt to make some headway. It’s only February. I can still do it!

I have started working on a new knitting design, a little ribbed baby hat in merino. And finished off the third clue of the Downton Abbey MKAL. I am worried I will run out of yarn partway through the second mitten, so I am going to knit the cuffs last. Maybe this will also help me avoid second mitten syndrome!

I feel like I am in the same place you are. For some reason I have all these grand plans to make sweaters for myself this year and I keep buying more yarn and then feeling guilty about it.

Hehehe…it amuses me that you feel guilty about a yarn purchase. Sometimes I buy yarn just because I liked the color. I have no idea what I’m going to do with it. The closest I come to guilt is that I may hide it so hubby doesn’t know I bought more. 🙂

I can completely relate. My LYS had a huge sales right before the holidays – it was their pre-inventory sale – and I came home with LOTS of yarn.
