Rabbit Wrangling

This project has been frustrating from the get-go and putting in writing that I would have it finished by Christmas put me under a huge amount of self-inflicted stress!

You know what’s motivating though? Having a creepy headless rabbit sitting on the spare room bed. Look at it. Creepy. Then to make it even creepier I bought some glass eyes and left them sitting around waiting for a head.                                          IMG_8632 IMG_8642 IMG_8634

That last picture? That was the amount of yarn I had left after completing the body (the ball is roughly tennis ball sized). Surprise! It wasn’t enough. I ran out after the first ear was done. So I wandered up the road to buy another skein only to find that they had, surprise! Run out. And that the yarn has, surprise! Been discontinued. Meaning there is NO MORE ANYWHERE. So, there I sat with a one-eared, armless naked rabbit. Not exactly an appropriate gift for a two-year old. What’s a person to do?

Improvise! I have a sewing machine don’t I? And a spare bed sitting over a stash of vintage woollen blankets? Voila.

I am very happy with him. And so is Molly! She gave him a big hug after unwrapping him and promptly named him ‘Bear’. So it seems like it was worth the effort. We all got some lovely things this year…I love having a big pile of presents under the tree!

After Christmas lunch with my family we went for a rainy, humid walk. Here are some photos…

Plenty of beautiful colours around. Happy Christmas!
