Tour de Fleece

Over on Ravelry I am participating in the Tour de Fleece. A light hearted event (that runs alongside the Tour de France) in which spinners challenge themselves to complete fibre projects during the span of the bike race from which it stole it’s name.

My goals are to finish spinning the singles of the blue silk and merino that I started who-knows-how-long ago, ply it and have it ready (measured, washed, skeined) to knit with. The singles are done and today I started plying.

My other goal is to spin up this beautiful silk that my SIL gave me for my birthday.
As hard as I have tried I just CANNOT get the hang of it. I am going to blend it with some cream coloured merino and see if that makes it easier. I don’t want to wreck it, nor do I want to end up with something that doesn’t have enough yardage to be useful.
I have cleared my spindle so that it can be spun on that once it’s blended. This is what needed to come off…I’m very happy with it! Lovely soft merino that is now bobbin-stored and waiting for something to ply with. Perhaps the oddments of my silk/merino. I have two uneven bobbins of that so there are sure to be leftovers!
I have given myself the rest of today (well, the few free moments I can catch during the day) to spin. Work can wait until tomorrow.
