I love, love, love my new sewing machine. So much so that I even sacrificed some of my hand-quilting and whipped up three of my baby quilts over the last week! I am really happy with them. They are sweet and fresh and light, just perfect for little people to snooze under. You can find them in my shop here if you would like one.
Two are completed and one is still waiting on the binding to be sewn down. My fingers are bruised from finishing the first two so I am having a break! The first is a sweet flower-scattered one with a fresh, striped backing. Bamboo batting makes these very light but cosily warm.
The stripes put me in mind of nautical things and, I hope, keep this more unisex than ‘just’ for girls with the flowers on the front. The second is a more vintage-style floral front in soft colours, with a cream coloured brushed cotton backing for softness. The bright spots of red in the binding add some happiness to this quiet quilt.
I think there will be plenty more of these in my future. I have even started stashing some lovely rescued linens that can be repurposed and made into tiny blankets.
The trouble with not buying yarn, it seems, is that I am stashing fabric (and fibre…) instead!
