Handmade and On Time

I have been keeping up with my ‘year of handmade’ and sent off a coffee-sack tote bag for SIL’s birthday.

It should be large enough to hold farmer’s market purchases and (hopefully) sturdy enough for carting large text books to and from work. Because this was something I had already made I need to admit to also sending a ball of Rowan kidsilk haze too, but that won’t be included in the tally! The bag cost about $2.00 to make and took an hour from start to finish.

Please excuse the shoddy photo complete with dark line down one side. I don’t have time for tidying up images today! (For those who are silently hating me for my blog name now is probably a good time to explain that it’s ironic. Molly tends not to nap much at all but whenever I show people my finished craft projects they invariably go ‘oh it must be so nice to have something to do while Molly naps!’).

The next present is for a friend who is turning 30 in about 10 days time. I stupidly decided to knit him a tie (it’s half in jest and half serious. He is quite quirky and a tiny bit hipster in the nicest possible way. So he could love it, or he could be confused and not wear it ever). What was I thinking?

A tie is going to take forever to knit! I am using all stash yarn and making a modified version of the ‘husband tie’ from the Purl Bee. 50 odd inches to go.
This one may not make it on time.
