Not the Kate Davies ones. My owls are made out of an old, much loved scarf that is now, in my own opinion, ‘too young’ for me (I don’t listen to the sartorial opinions of others).

Here is the scarf

The fabric is so soft and so very fluffy that I couldn’t bear to just throw it out. It was still in very good condition too, with no marks or threadbare bits. I think these little owls I made are a very satisfactory re-purposing of an old, gently loved item of clothing.

They are just right for small (or large!) arms to cuddle. Molly has approved them with plenty of choruses of ‘toowittowooo!’ and they will be accompanying me to the Devonport Craft Market this Sunday where I hope to find happy homes for them all. If any still need adopting on Monday I will add them to my Etsy shop.

Their faces are pure wool felt and I hand-stitched all the details carefully with small blanket stitches.
Now I just have to stop myself from chopping up all my ‘old’ winter clothes to make a full parliament of these wee ones!
