A year of handmade gifts

While I was making a gift this morning for a friend’s upcoming 30th, it occurred to me that birthdays are the perfect opportunity for me to really get into the spirit of making more. At the same time, making gifts  could help us save some money throughout the year and could definitely help with my intention of stashing-down!

So. I hereby announce my intention to make (then photograph and blog) as many gifts as I can this year instead of buying them. I will also be keeping a running tally of the cost (and time, it will take a LOT of time and I don’t want to be seen as a total cheapskate should my friends stumble across this blog!) so I can see if it really is cheaper to make than buy.

My other gift, C’s cowl, is slowly coming along. It’s so hot here at the moment I can’t stand handling the wool though. If you want to see some real ‘Honey Cowl’ progress go and check out this blog where the output is huge!

Gift tally so far: Lisa’s pin: about .20 cents and an hour of my time.
